New Chance The Rapper Album Just A Collection Of Him Saying Grace Before Eating Dinner

Chance the Rapper has been pretty silent about the details of his new album, but in a recent interview, the Chicago rapper revealed his debut studio album will be several recordings of him praying before his meals.

“I wanted my debut album to solidify my transformation into ‘hip youth pastor’ and instill a message about the importance of boasting that you’re blessed,” said Chance. “My favorite songs on Coloring Book were intimate ballads like ‘Blessings Pt. 1’ and nothing seems more intimate than the spiritual foreplay I have before I dine with my family.”

The rapper confirmed his debut album, named Owbum, will be several prayers being spoken over a variety of beats from producers like Metro Boomin and Murda Beats. But the most important contribution was the work of Kirk Franklin. “It wasn’t until a month ago that I realized the music was getting in the way of the message. And the message is: Jesus loves you… very much.”

Chance ended the interview making it clear that Owbum and its message was his most important project to date. “Ever since I got saved and became a dad, I realized I wanted my music to be positive and invoke that same feeling that you get from the resolution in a Madea film.”

The album is slated to be released in July at black churches everywhere.
